Fire on Ice

FIRE ON ICE is River City Youth Hockey's annual tournament series, hosted at Green Island Ice Arena in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Each age level has its own dedicated tournament weekend, bringing together teams from across the region for a great weekend of hockey and hospitality.

Fire on Ice is a USA Hockey/WAHA-sanctioned tournament. Games are played in accordance with current USA Hockey and WAHA rules, along with Fire on Ice Tournament Rules.

Tournament Format

• All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games.
• 10U: Round-robin/pool play followed by championship and placement games. Format may vary by division based on the number of participating teams.
• 12U & 14U: Bracket-style tournament play with championship and placement games.
• Final schedules and brackets will be provided prior to each tournament.

Game Format

• 10U: Three 12-minute stop-time periods
• 12U & 14U: Three 15-minute stop-time periods
• Five-minute warm-up
• One one-minute timeout per team, per game
• Running time will be used when a team has a six-goal lead, in accordance with WAHA guidelines.
• GameSheet will be used for tournament scoring and results.

All teams, players, and coaches must meet applicable USA Hockey and WAHA registration, rostering, and eligibility requirements. USA Hockey and WAHA Zero Tolerance and sportsmanship expectations will be enforced throughout the tournament.

Complete tournament rules, including standings, tiebreakers, overtime procedures and advancement criteria, will be provided to participating teams prior to the tournament.

Historic Downtown La Crosse offers a number of hotels, great restaurants, fun shopping, scenic views of the Mississippi River, and plenty of entertainment - not to mention, Downtown hotels offer the shortest drive to the rink!

Note: Squirt tournament games will begin on Friday evening. Peewee and Bantam games may begin as early as Friday evening only if needed. Travel time will be taken into consideration when the schedule is created, but please allow for flexibility on Friday.
