Register for Try Hockey for Free!

River City Youth Hockey, home of the La Crosse Flames, invites kids ages 3-9 to join our coaches on the ice to Try Hockey for FREE! No prior skating experience required. Participants are welcome to join us for one or both sessions. Advance registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome!

Saturday, November 1 or Sunday, November 2
10AM - 12PM @ Green Island Ice Arena

All safety equipment will be provided, along with hockey skates.

Every child who participates will receive a free slushie and a goodie bag. No commitment necessary -this is just a fun opportunity to try something new and have a blast on the ice with our seasoned coaches! 

If you decide to register your child for the 2025-2026 season, we will be available to assist with registration on-site during the event. You may also register at home at your convenience. Ready to register now? Register by September 15th and use code 'EARLYBIRD' to receive a $25 discount!

River City Youth Hockey is committed to making hockey financially accessible so all kids have the opportunity to enjoy the game of hockey. We provide all safety equipment, a hockey bag, a practice jersey, and a game jersey for free to first year Mites (ages 8 and under). Returning Mites pay a low fee of $50 to rent equipment, a bag, and jerseys. Families must supply their own hockey skates and a stick. Families facing financial hardship may apply for need-based scholarships to assist with registration fees; applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
